What are the system requirements for Nihuo Web Log Analyzer?

Which log file formats can Nihuo Web Log Analyzer analyze ?

• Apache common and combined log file format
• Microsoft IIS4/IIS5 W3C extended log file format
• NCSA common and combined log file format
• IIS log file format

Requesting an explanation as to what the difference is between a"Hits" and a "Visit" when displayed in a report.

The " Hits" in reports indicates the number of times that item was requested, whereas "Visits" specifies the number of sessions regardless of the number An access of a web page or a file will be processed as a "Hit" by the web server. For example, if a web page contains 5 pictures, a visit on that page will be logged as 6 "hits" , one hit for the web page, 5hits for the pictures.

If a visitor viewed 10 web pages on the web site, each page contain 10 pictures, the web server will record: 110 Hits
10 Page Views
1 visit If the visitor left the web site and came back 30 minutes later, Nihuo Web Log Analyzer will report 2 visits. If the visitor came back within 30 minutes, Nihuo Web Log Analyzer will still report 1 visit.

A unique user (with unique IP address) is determined by the IP address. By default, a visit session is terminated when a user falls inactive for more than 30 minutes. So a unique user (with unique IP address) may visit your web site twice and get reported as two visits.

How I convert reports to an Excel spreadsheet or to a MS Word Format?
Microsoft Word 97 or higher version and Excel 97 or higher version can read HTML format files directly. So you just need open the html report files directly by MS Word or Excel.

More explanation is needed for the Advertising and Tracking dialogs. I'm still not sure exactly what these do.
Advertising Analysis:
With Advertising Analysis, you can easily determine the number of visitors to your Web site who view or click on a particular ad or ads. If you are selling advertising space on your Web site, Advertising Analysis makes it easy to collect exact traffic statistics to help determine pricing schedules.

Let use http://www.loganalyzer.net as an example. There is an image (http://www.loganalyzer.net/images/wla.jpg ) on our homepage. The page is link to http://www.loganalyzer.net/download.html. We can look this image as an advertising of "download.html". In the advertising dialog, input "/images/wla.jpg" into "File Name" field and input "/download.html" into "Click String" field. Then we can analysis the efficiency of the advertising now.

Tracking File Analysis:
I often use Tracking File Analysis to get more detailed traffic statistics of my software download files. I just need input "/downloads/*.exe" and "/downloads/*.zip" in the tracking dialog to get what I want. Please try it as I do, input "*.exe" in the tracking dialog, you will find more

Why can't I get search engine analysis or referrer analysis?
The reason for this problem is that the log file does not contain enough information. If the web server is IIS, please ensure the field named cs(referrer). If the web server is Apache or other Unix web server, please use combined log file format.

How can I customize Nihuo Web Log Analyzer reports?
Nihuo Web Log Analyzer use template files to generate the HTML reports. These template files are stored in <install path>\Template\general folder.
You can use your text editor to modify these template files to make your own customized reports. For example, add your company logo in the reports.

Can Nihuo Web Log Analyzer run on a Macintosh or on Unix ?
No, Nihuo Web Log Analyzer can only run on Windows 9x/Me/NT4/2000/XP/2003 and Vista. The reports Nihuo Web Log Analyzer generates can be read by any frames capable browser. You can analyze log files from Unix or Macintosh machines by linking a Windows PC on a network to the Unix/Macintosh machine, FTP the files across, analyzing it and then upload the reports to specific destinations or e-mail it to clients. Note that you do not have to FTP or download the log files if you can access it directly on local or remote drives. Rather use the File method for retrieval.

My license key doesn't work. Help!
Please note that you have to enter the user name and serial number exactly as given in your license message, with the same spacing and case.
You need not input the serial number by keyboard. You just need select the serial number by mouse or keyboard, and press CTRL + C to copy it, and press CTRL + V in the serial number edit box of registration dialog to paste it, and you need copy and paste the user name too. Then, please press ok button to finish your registration.
